Protest Against Salary Cuts in Buenos Aires

Representatives from the university sector, unions, and social organizations will join a protest in solidarity with the demands of Conicet workers. They denounce a 30% reduction in salaries and cuts in competitions and entries into the research career.

The protest will last until 7 PM and will feature more than 80 thematic stands where the results of research from various disciplines will be presented. The goal is to disseminate science and university teaching as part of a 'struggle plan' to highlight the crisis generated by the 'empting' of universities and the 'dismantling' of scientific organizations, the organizations stated in a release.

In addition to scientific exhibitions, there will be artistic interventions that will highlight the difficulties faced by scientists and technicians in continuing their research. The protest aims to expose the cuts that the national government is implementing in the sector.

The demonstration began at 11 AM in Plaza Houssay and is expected to be a significant event in the fight for the defense of scientific research and university education in Argentina.
